In 1988 Original Members Velasquez, Stapleton and Ochoa celebrated 10 years of Nervous Gender by exploring the just then emerging MIDI system allowing personal computers to interface with digital synthesizers, and set about updating their past catalogue to match the new technology.
December 2, 1988: The Probe, Hollywood. The original L.A. Techno-Punk's 10 year anniversary with original members Velasquez, Stapleton and Ochoa plus Wall of Voodoo guitarist Marc Moreland presenting computer generated versions of their "classics".
This would be Edward Stapleton's Final show with NG.
February 4, 1989: Al's Bar. Los Angeles. Edward calls in sick and Michael and Gerardo perform the show without him. The evening detonated into a drunken, internal & external technical debacle. No legal action was sought.

Facts of the cancellation are vague and open to speculation. 1 member recalls that the venue was closed down, 2 others feel that the club cancelled the band due to Gerardo's filthy pornographic flyers.
Edward Stapleton officially retires from Nervous Gender.
